What is a cover letter?

It's a letter that you send to an employer when you want to apply for a job. You need to send your CV, but this only tells them a summary of your skills and experience. The cover letter is more personalised, and should explain your current situation, why you are applying for the job and why you are the right person for it.

In High Intermediate 3 we have been doing lots of work on CV's and jobs. Read some great examples of cover letters from our class here, and then add your own in a new post if you want to!

I'm posting and example of cover letter with the aim of help those people who have difficulties at the moment of write in a formal way or that just need a reference.

Dear Mr/Ms

Regarding the Apple manager position currently advertised on NY Times Newspaper.

Having worked within the managing industry for over 5 years , I have developed a wide range of skills that would meet the expectations for the job, such as managing, accounting, self-motivation, disposition, hardworking and being assertive. I have formed a team that help the company to achieve all the goals.

In my present role as a industrial engineer for Microsoft corporation I have had many achievements, create my own software enterprise, manage a range of products for HP and help to develop the production interface of Dell Inc. I would relish the opportunity to bring this level of success to your company.
