Brazilian Stereotypes
Sun, samba and soccer!
The Brazilian people are known mainly for how much they enjoy playing and watching football. Such great activities are true for foreigners that arrive in Brazil. People there absolutely love to play football- you can always find someone kicking a can or a ball on streets- and also watching it in their homes. When there is a big competition happening, such as the World Cup and some local championships, people stop doing everything in order to watch and support their teams. It is a very nice thing to see football bringing people together, especially at the World Cup moments
Although a lot of people come to Brazil to see the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, not everyone who was born in Brazil appreciates the parties, however, everyone enjoys the holiday. People would rather stay at their houses watching movies or playing video games than going to "jump the Carnival", and enjoy the party. The same thing is also applied to samba, although it is a typical Brazilian rhythm, with a lot of different types, not everyone enjoys listening to samba or playing it. Most people like mainly international artists or other kinds of rhythms.
Favelas, a typical place that people with no financial conditions to buy a house live, are also known by people who live abroad. These places, often crowded houses built with cardboard, became a tourist attraction in some parts of Brazil. But what foreigners might not know is that people live there not because they want, but due to the lack of money and the lack of government solutions to their problems.
One thing that happens in Brazil and that is known everywhere around the globe is the corruption. This is intrinsic to the culture, if people can take advantage in not paying something, or even "jump the queue", they will do it. This is unfortunately present also in the government: politicians do not pay enough attention to the people. There is no money for education, infra-structure, health, security, what results in a brave people, especially the most underpaid people, to live in a country that gives no condition of decent living to its people.
