Stereotypes about Kuwait
As an Arabic country, most people would say that Arabs live in desert, maybe ride camels and stuff, but in this article I will write about true and false stereotypes about Kuwaiti culture.
Desert: Most people think that Arabs live in the desert, but the truth is that my country lies on the Arabian Gulf which means that the Kuwaiti cultural heritage is built around the sea, for example sailing, fishing and diving for pearls and trading them for goods from India, That was a part of Kuwaiti history.
Camels: As everybody knows camels live in deserts and as I mentioned above Kuwait depends most on the sea which means the desert takes up a small part of my country. But nowadays, I would say that 60% of Kuwaiti people have not seen a camel in their whole lives.
Rich: Most people think that Arabs are rich, especially when your country lies on the Arabian Gulf, which means that your country has plenty of oil barrels, which is true. In fact, Kuwait have more than 10% of the worlds oil reserves. But that does not necessarily mean that Kuwaiti people are rich. The truth is that they spend all of their salary on unnecessary stuff and most of them just love to show off. Having an lwan is really common in my country. I would say that Kuwaiti people just love to live in debt.
