How To Survive An Earthquake
Can you survive a big earthquake? A powerful earthquake hit Iran on April 16th. A newspaper reported that 41 people were killed and more than 200 people were injured. We can never know when and where a quake will occur. But we can have knowledge of quake and prepare for it.
What you should do in a quake
The initial shock of a quake lasts for one to five minutes. So, when you are in a building, get yourself under a sturdy desk or chair etc. to protect your head from falling objects. Don’t rush out of the building. After the shock dies away, look around carefully, then go out of the building. And if you were in your office on the 50th floor, don’t use the lift! When outside, find refuge in an open space to keep you away from falling objects such as windowpanes and bricks. Keep these in mind, but the most important thing to survive a big quake is to keep calm in an emergency. Be prepared!
