Apocalypse Now is a 1979 American war film set during the Vietnam War, directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall, and Martin Sheen. U.S. Army Captain and special operations veteran Benjamin L. Willard has returned from action to Saigon where, alone in his room, he experiences hallucinations. Intelligence officers Lt. General Corman and Colonel Lucas approach him with an assignment: Willard must follow the Nung River into the remote Cambodian jungle, find rogue US Special Forces Colonel Walter E. Kurtz and kill him. Kurtz apparently went insane and now commands his own Montagnard troops inside neutral Cambodia. The Film has a lot of famous soundtrack like "The Doors - The End" or "Wilhelm Richard Wagner - Ride Of The Valkyries". There is also a lot of action in it. There are also some ridiculous scenes or quotes like: "I love the smell of napalm in the morning, smells like victory!" Compared to other Vietnam movies Apocalypse Now isn't just Americans fighting against Vietcong, it's well structured. The film has won a lot of awards, like the Academy Award for Best Cinematography and the Academy Award for Best Sound... I think this film is definitely in my "must-see" list with other war movies like "Schindler's List" or "The Pianist". If you like watching Vietnam War movies, this film needs to be seen on the big screen.
