Why should we need plastic surgery to get a job?
Cosmetic surgery is hugely popular in Korea, as you can see from these "Miss Korea" contestants
Why do we have to be more beautiful for our job?! One day, I was so surprised when I saw the Facebook. There was my friend’s picture, but I couldn’t recognize her. I asked her what happened, and she answered that she'd had a plastic surgery. So I asked again about the reason. Her reason is that she is in the season of finding a job, therefore she had to be more beautified. Above all she reacted as if my question is very weird. Because she thought that becoming more beautified in the season of getting a job is very natural and necessary , since every employer thinks that the beauty is an essential requisite especially for women. Is it normal? I think that is another way of sexual assault. The more being beautiful, the more can work better? At least I can say this kind of thought is very common in my country, South Korea. So after second or third year in the university, some women usually have a diet to lose weight, or have a plastic surgery. But I think there is no relation between work ability and beauty, and I think all of the employers and employees think like me.
But this prejudiced practice is already established in the market So now this is unchangeable. Some employers say that the appearance of woman helps make contract successfully and easily. So women must be beautiful to get a job. But that is unfair and if companies are successful with any contract thanks to beautiful women, is it a real business success and shows their ability to make a profits? I think no, and I already know your answer. From the point of the view of women, that is so harsh. To lose weight, women skip their meals many times, and this leads to serious dizziness. And they have to pay lots of money to be more beautified, for example buying more fancy clothes and cosmetic products. Of course, they have to study English, the thing that we study in university and other skills that companies require. Women are not perfect like wonder woman that has many kinds of skills and even is very beautiful and has a great body shape. I think beauty has two important meanings. One of them is outside beauty and the other one is inside. Any activity to beautify women must be based on their decision and their will, not on the other reason, especially to have a job. Women are not animals in the office that satisfy another people or can make more profit easily and successfully. And women have to think that to acquire more SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE to work is more imperative than having the appearance of Venus.
