Review about a film, the title is "What's in a Name". "What's in a name" is a French comedy which is written with a terrific sense of humour. The screenplay contains a lot of idioms and the writer plays on words. Patrick Bruel, who used to be a singer, stars as the main character in the role of Vincent. The film is set in a living room. There are only 2 settings during the film. Therefore, you could also watch this play in a theater.
The plot is not complicated, maybe a little confusing. Five relatives meet and have dinner together. As Vincent's wife is pregnant, Vincent is asked how he would name his future child. He answered that if it was a boy it would be Adolf. Everybody gave their opinion about this first name and most of them disagreed in memory of Adolf Hitler, who was a war's leader. Afterwards, the discussion fell down and became a mess. We learnt a lot about the family's secrets. Therefore, Vincent tried to make up the talk and confessed that the first name given before was a joke. This confession was too late, each had to accept what they had heard on the family. The last scene is set at the hospital when the child was born. It was finally a girl and her first name was common. Personnally, I think it was a nice story in which we are faced with good performers. I would recommend this film to anyone who likes laughing and would enjoy an entertaining time. On the other hand, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, who is expecting to visual elements and stunning special effects! By Stephanie Robert-Nicoud |
