Kraak - a bar and live music venue
You can find the Kraak Gallery just around the corner from Kaplan!
Manchester is a great place to enjoy various and trendy music. Not only are there many concert halls, also pubs and live music bars where we canrelax and unwind . If you are a person who really loves listening to new music, this city will be the best place for entertainment. Among many areas of Manchester, The Northern quarter, which is within 5 minutes' walk from Kaplan, is the most appealing place with lots of music bars. As a devotee of contemporary music, I headed for The Northern Quarter to visit Kraak Gallery with the expectation and pleasure.
Kraak Gallery, which used to be a textile mill, has been revived as two multi-purpose and low-cost spaces for art, music, exhibitions and photography. It was difficult to find this multi-functional place because it is hidden in an old and abandoned warehouse. When I found the venue, I heard a soft and attractive melody from inside. A band had already started playing and an audience of about 20 was listening with concentration. Around the audience sitting on chairs, there were some sofas and tables for drinking. The inside decoration was very refined but it was quite vacant. Besides the auditorium, there was a large screen showing an esoteric video. The band on the stage consisted of 7 members; a vocalist with an acoustic guitar, an electric guitarist, a bassist, a synthesizer player, a drummer, a violinist, and a cellist. They harmonized very well and some of them sometimes changed their instruments to add beat, making their music more rhythmical. In my opinion, their music is a kind of alternative and contemporary folk or Indie rock. The melody was generally lyrical and sentimental. The voice of the male vocalist reminded me of Damien Rice, the Irish musician famous for his hit song ‘Blower’s daughter’. Their performance was more impressive than a typical music concert. I enjoyed myself to my heart’s content with their music for an hour and I was delighted to discover this pleasant venue.
Kraak Gallery is not just a concert hall, but a connective hub for innovative visual and performance artists. Anyone who has an interest in music, arts or photograph can have fun in Kraak without breaking the bank. They also host various events including stylistic parties at night. What about releasing stress and enjoying sophisticated life at the Kraak Gallery?
